How Republicans Tried to Kill Obamacare and Give Us the Cheap Ryan Substitute.

April 11th, 2017 · Comments Off on How Republicans Tried to Kill Obamacare and Give Us the Cheap Ryan Substitute. · ALEC, Budgets, Economics, General, Health Care, Jobs, Labor, Lobbying, Obstruction, Politics, Populism, Social Security

We have been mislead by Republicans about Obamacare. If health care is about the American people, then Obamacare is good and workable and economically sound. If health care is about making health insurance companies profitable, and not caring for the American people, then the Republican plan is better…but only for the health insurance industry.

Donald Trump Is No Populist.

April 1st, 2017 · Comments Off on Donald Trump Is No Populist. · ALEC, Capitalism, Corporations and Industry, Economics, Fascism, Health Care, Labor, Lobbying, Obstruction, Politics, Populism, Social Security, Taxes, Trump, Wars and Militarism

by Joseph D. O’Shaughnessy I normally don’t sign what we all call posts. I don’t even refer to them as “posts.” Rather, I call them editorials or articles. But I don’t want any misunderstanding when it comes to who wrote this stuff about Trump. I don’t like him and I don’t like what he is […]

The Trump Hits Keep Coming.

December 11th, 2016 · Comments Off on The Trump Hits Keep Coming. · Politics, Populism, Social Security, Trump

President-Elect Trump, who apparently thinks that he has already taken office, despite challenges in several very close, very suspicious states, continues to pick a cabinet. Depending upon your point of view, it is either a big hit, as in a popular move, or a big hit, as in a blow to the solar plexus. But […]

The Sanders Revolution

February 24th, 2016 · Comments Off on The Sanders Revolution · ALEC, Budgets, Capitalism, Corporations and Industry, Courts and the Law, Democracy, Economics, Fascism, Health Care, Human Rights, Jobs, Lobbying, Media, Politics, Populism, Social Security, Taxes, Wall Street

The world is changing  again. Instead of a 40-something running for President, we have two 60 or 70-somethings. Maybe it takes that long to learn that being purchased by a billionaire is not the only way to run for President. The most significant event of the current 2016 run for the Presidency on either side […]

Here is the real danger for 2016. We are at a tipping point. It is very likely that few Americans understand the calamitous potential of that single day in our history. Tuesday, November 8, 2016.  There is a very realistic scenario that describes what could happen. It will happen only if we fail as citizens. […]

Social Security Revisited.

November 7th, 2015 · Comments Off on Social Security Revisited. · Fascism, Politics, Populism, Social Security, The Budget

On May 28, 2009, in this space, we published a well-researched article entitled, “Who Stole Your Social Security and Why?” The idea was to clarify the concept and the true status of Social Security. Because of the huge Republican propaganda campaign against Social Security, it is time to review the facts. In recent years, citizens […]

Hedge Fund Managers Are Coming for Your State Pension Funds.

July 16th, 2015 · Comments Off on Hedge Fund Managers Are Coming for Your State Pension Funds. · Corporations and Industry, Economics, Fascism, Health Care, Human Rights, Labor, Lobbying, Media, Politics, Populism, Social Security, The Budget, Wall Street

One of the most serious and largest scams now being perpetrated by the Republican Party on the American public is the “unfunded liability” state employee pension debate. The true story is essentially quite different from what they would have you believe.  The Republican governors have figured out that the best way to steal from the […]

The Republicans and Growing Neo-Fascism in America

April 14th, 2015 · Comments Off on The Republicans and Growing Neo-Fascism in America · Corporations and Industry, Economics, Education, Fascism, Human Rights, International affairs, Labor, Lobbying, Media, Obstruction, Politics, Populism, Social Security, Taxes, Wars and Militarism

Many people think of Fascism and they think of Nazis and the Gestapo and concentration camps. That concept, while accurate as far as it goes, is not the only perspective on Fascism. There are other thoughts that should come into your mind very quickly these days so that you understand our current Neo-Fascism, i.e., the […]

Inequality and Poverty

March 27th, 2015 · Comments Off on Inequality and Poverty · ALEC, Capitalism, Corporations and Industry, Democracy, Economics, Fascism, General, Human Rights, Jobs, Labor, Lobbying, Media, Obstruction, Politics, Populism, Social Security, Taxes, Wall Street

Government is failing Americans. A nation accustomed to creating new industries, technologies and good jobs within those industries can no longer expect vision from government. Incomes, fortunes in fact, earned abroad by owners of corporations go directly from the marketplace into the pockets of the already rich. This inequality of outcomes and incomes is causing […]

Unions and the Middle Class

December 14th, 2014 · Comments Off on Unions and the Middle Class · Capitalism, Corporations and Industry, Democracy, Economics, Fascism, Jobs, Labor, Lobbying, Media, Politics, Populism, Social Security, Wall Street

It’s time we began to look for ways to organize large numbers of people against the now dominant power of the Plutocracy. Unions are a great starting point and a great model. Let’s dispel the Right Wing Fascist notion that unions are made up of lazy thugs. Unions are made up of hard working individuals. […]

The Next Two Years

November 21st, 2014 · Comments Off on The Next Two Years · Budgets, Democracy, Economics, Fascism, Health Care, Human Rights, Jobs, Media, Politics, Populism, Social Security, Wall Street

The November 2014 elections were pretty clear. In some states Senators or Governors won by as many as 70% of the vote. Of course, there is still debate and may be for some time, about the huge numbers of people—far more than the margins of victory in many cases—who were removed from the voting rolls […]

The Koch Brothers, Fascism and the 2014 Elections – Part II

November 10th, 2014 · Comments Off on The Koch Brothers, Fascism and the 2014 Elections – Part II · ALEC, Budgets, Capitalism, Corporations and Industry, Democracy, Economics, Education, Fascism, Health Care, Jobs, Lobbying, Media, Politics, Populism, Social Security, Taxes, Wall Street, Wars and Militarism

So, here we have two brothers, raised in privilege by Frederick Koch, Sr., a man who was at first accepted, then apparently shunned by Joseph Stalin while living in Russia. Koch became an advocate of the Ludwig Von Mies and Hayek ultra-conservative schools of economics and the Joseph McCarthy brand of politics because they both […]

November 1st, 2014 · Comments Off on The Koch Brothers, Fascism and the 2014 Elections · ALEC, Budgets, Corporations and Industry, Democracy, Fascism, Jobs, Lobbying, Media, Obstruction, Politics, Populism, Science & Technology, Social Security

There are always conspiracy theorists in abundance. And when it comes to elections, from Kennedy in 1960 to Bush in 2000, some people will have the facts and others will ignore the facts. But facts, even those with the Jon Stewart-described, “known Liberal bias” are difficult to avoid. The fact is that the brothers Koch […]

Paul Ryan and a Republican Non-budget

February 11th, 2014 · Comments Off on Paul Ryan and a Republican Non-budget · Budgets, Economics, Politics, Populism, Social Security, Taxes

We must address a current issue on today’s Neo-Conservative agenda…the Paul Ryan Republican Budget. Paul Ryan announced a Republican Budget on March 12, 2013 and it fell with a clank on the floor of the House. It is very clear at the outset that this is less of a budget than it is a political […]

January 27th, 2014 · Comments Off on The Case For Liberal Economics · Corporations and Industry, Economics, Fascism, General, Jobs, Labor, Lobbying, Obstruction, Politics, Populism, Social Security, Taxes, The Budget, Wall Street, Wars and Militarism

We have serious economic problems. As a country, we need to move ahead. China is buying up the world’s resources. Soon Russia will do the same thing. What China and Russia do not buy up, the Middle Eastern oil countries will buy while there is still something left. Our largest financiers are holding their cash. […]
