One Nation Rally. October 2, 2010, the National Mall, Washington D.C.

September 30th, 2010 · 9 Comments · Capitalism, Human Rights, Jobs, Media, Politics, Populism

If you can attend, it is this weekend. It will be the biggest event on the Mall in many years, a very large number of organizations, including the many various state chapters of the Democratic Party will be busing in people to the Mall for this assembly. It is both significant and also important that as many concerned Americans as possible attend.

The Republic is in danger. We are beset by rich and very powerful forces of plutocracy who want to take over this country. It is not the same as the late 1800s and the early 1900s. Today, the media is largely in the control, not of families who are concerned with their view of truth and justice, but corporations–huge, faceless corporations that are controlled, as all very large corporations are these days by Republicans.

The corporate media have no intention of telling you about what they really know about the tenor and the attitudes of the Middle Class. The Middle Class is angry. Not at Barack Obama, or Nancy Pelosi. They have done a marvelous job of trying to get legislation passed. But you will never hear that from the major media. So we need to express it with a gigantic show of force in one place at one time, to make the impact of our true emotions…our resentment at having been stolen from and cheated and lied into war and left abandoned by Bush and Cheney and Paulson’s Wall Street pals…to shift for ourselves with less in our 401Ks and less equity in our homes…the only wealth the average family is allowed to safely accumulate…until they came along.

We must express our support for the President and our extreme anger at the corporatist Republicans who obstruct and obstruct and obstruct legislation like reasonably priced health care and jobs bills to put the nation back to work…bills that could easily be paid for with taxes that would make the top 1% of Americans pay their fair share, even if it were only for five years…to put this country back together. And they would never even notice that their income changed, because in most cases, these people earn much more than even they can spend.

We’ve seen the face of corporate greed and their power-hungry approach to life. In California, Carly Fiorina who shipped tens of thousand of jobs to Asia and then ran a great corporation into the ground…and left with a huge fortune…is trying to buy a seat in the Senate where she says she will turn back the clock on women and the elderly. Is this why we have a free enterprise system–to allow people to enrich themselves so that they can take office and work against the Middle Class and the Lower Class and for their rich CEO friends and corporations?

Meg Whitman proves again that major corporate executives are all about money and greed and power and destroying the great mass of American lifestyles. She has spent over $120 million of her own money to become Governor of California so that she, too, can turn the clock back on America. She wants to follow the Neocon mantra of cutting government while cutting more taxes for the rich, leaving behind the poor and the elderly and the veterans and the Middle Class.

These Neoconservative CEOs have gone from the very backbone of the country to becoming the enemy of the People. They want to leave the vast majority of Americans with no power, no government to turn to.  They want to end school vouchers, so that the rich get assistance in sending their kids to private schools and there is less remaining–far less–than the poor inner-city schools get now. The inner-city schools have always been the the last refuge of the truly ambitious poor and immigrant populations. They have been the means by which immigrant Jews and Italians and Irish…and Blacks, up from the oppression of the deep South have always bootstrapped themselves into the middle class and sometimes huge success. People like Fiorina and Whitman and their fellow corporate executives…it seems the only kind of person allowed to be a CEO these days…are not the friends of the average American. The ones who came from the lower classes turned their backs on those neighborhoods in favor of those living in the gated communities.  And now they viciously turn on those most vulnerable in society.

This is what we must express on Oct. 2. This is why huge numbers must appear and raise our voices and be heard over the silence of the media.

These corporate CEOs who head the media companies are hired by the handful of major stockholders who are themselves conservative Republicans. They will never tell the truth about what they know. They hire their own pollsters to set the samples the way they want to arrive at the outcomes they want. There was a day when the Pulitzers and Ochs and Hearsts and other families controlled newspapers. Today, NBC is owned by General Electric, the company that put Ronald Reagan into power and set off the Conservative and now the Neo-conservative effort to destroy the Middle Class so that they can better control the labor force. Rupert Murdoch owns both Fox Television and the Fox News Channel. They are deliberate propaganda machines for the rich and for huge corporate interests.

Murdoch owns the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post and massive other media operations. He is not only a conservative. We have always had conservatives shooting darts from the Right at Civil Rights, Women’s Rights, Free Speech, Labor Unions and anything else that would normally be considered populist, egalitarian and honest. But now we have a man who is actively a Neocon, a man who conspires with other major corporate CEOs to try to bring down this country. He is only a recently naturalized citizen. Great Britain and Australia don’t want him. The only way they want him is dead. He is universally despised for his yellow journalism.

We need to send a message to the media. We need to tell them that this assembly is too large to ignore. We want action. We want jobs. We want fairness again in this country. We do not want a Supreme Court that will turn the elections over to the Fortune 200 and say to them: “Elect your own Congressmen and Senators.”

Now to more practical matters. The best way to get there is to pool with others. Hopefully, millions of Americans will go. Unions are organizing buses. Tell your friends about this web site or go to AFL-CIO web sites. You can also simply key in Oct 2, One Nation Rally Washington D.C. and a number of sites will come up. Get on the website:  www.wegoted.com, the Ed Schultz web site. That has information and links. Call your local Democratic Party. Here is a list of all the local Democratic offices in the country. Scroll down to find your local office:  http://www.killercampaigning.com/democratic-republican-party-websites-list-all-50-states/.   The other alternative is to simply key in your county name and the words “Democratic Party.”  That should bring you to your closest Democratic Party office. They should be able to direct you to an organization that is planning a bus trip.

It is time to act. We are being buried by those who would gladly make us dig our own graves. Our  message to the government is being hidden by rich and powerful interests such as those we have mentioned. Your fate is in your hands. Show your support today. Go to Washington if you can. If you can’t, tell a friend. Tell the rest of Americans that they are not alone.

It’s about time that a progressive movement got fired up to take a look , to see themselves. Yes we are here and we are committed and no we won’t be drowned out by faux noise. A rainbow nation working together, no clowns dressed in tea bags, with posters of the US president with a Hitler mustache, a bone through his nose, or a noose around his neck, just our ordinary hardworking albeit unemployed Americans and our struggling youth

  • greatness lost is legend

Rally is too closely associated with Marxists. A failed economic system linked to mass murder. Hardly a progressive movement. Today’s so called progressive suffers from nearly triple unemployment than conservatives. Progressive supporters work fewer hours per week and average 7 years less employment over a lifetime. Education: Conservatives today are more likely to have a high school diploma, or greater than Progressives. Look at US inner cities, dominated by Progressive policies for years. They are a mess and are getting messier. Why? Progressive policies lead to sloth, lack of drive, and poor attitude amongst citizens subjected to them. I live on Maui, one of the most “Progressive” counties in America. Drop out rate is 50% and nearly half of high school graduates cannot function beyond a grade five level. A dislike capitalism/America agenda permeates education, social advocacy groups, and most politicians. Result: Entire generations of ignorant people easily led around by the nose, unable to reason about the world around them. This is the force behind this rally. Look at what its leaders way, then compare it to Beck. Look at the condition of the Mall afterwards and compare it to Beck.

In NY State a Justice determined cumulative voting right for Hispanics in Taylor Country. Each Hispanic voter was assigned six votes instead of one person one vote. This decision has stood up to appeal so far. This didn’t go unnoticed. A bill in Texas is being introduced that will cumulate votes based on employment, taxes paid, service to the State, and nation, and last bona fide business ownership. Those who work hardest in the State of Texas will could have their vote counted up to five times. The State law seeks to apply this to how Texan Senators are chosen.

The right is going to Bring America Back, not on 19th century ideas, but ideals that leapt mankind from the horsewhip to whipping astronauts around the moon. Constitutional limited government that assures our right to be the best we can be is not infringed upon by unreasonable government. Rights bestowed from God, not a flawed neo-marxist /Black Liberation Theologist President whose ideology ensures economic hardship.

Marxism is so frequently confused with Socialism and a Capitalist system such as we have here. Capitalist societies in Europe, where well over half the common and preferred stock is in the hands of approximately the same percentage of the people as in this country often opt for more sensible policies. They realize that someone out of work without the funds to continue a fractional economic lifestyle is a severe drag on society. We are not talking about the kind of situation that happens in places like some areas of Hawaii, for example, where there is no industry but perhaps a fluctuating tourist economy, but societies where there are industries flourishing with alternate business cycles.

Neo-marxists do not perform well in societies like ours where our Presidents, including the current one, who, yes, as you noticed is partly of African descent, return well over 98% of non essential government work back to the private sector. Even a great deal of the NASA programs started by President Kennedy, and expanded by President Johnson to send astronauts around the moon, over the objections of Conservative Senators and Congressmen of the day had very strong elements of private industry and do to this day.

Maui is as far from the mainland of the United States as is Great Britain. But it is apparently much farther in existential time. Many of us in the continental United States can only wonder at the vast intellectual construction of the term “Neo-Marxist Black Liberation Theologist President.” It does sound very much like one of Glenn Beck’s concoctions, however.

Progressives today, unfortunately, wouldn’t know America and how it existed prior to Reagan. All they know is today’s welfare dolts, government handouts, attacks on businesses, stimulus packages that only use union labor (payback for all those votes for pEreZ Obama, a healthcare bill that will drive most insurers out of business thus giving more control of health care to government, a health care bill that will limit senior citizens benefits (but since most progressives are their 20’s/30’s who think they are invincible and won’t need care when they are old, they don’t care) and cause costs to skyrocket. Also, progressives today believe that just because Ice caps are melting on Mars and other outer planets that its my suv that is causing the disaster on those foreign rocks. Progressives have an IQ on ‘light’ because they seemingly are not intelligent enough to understand how the real world works, for their real world only exists of forcing others to help them in their daily daze of stimulants and depressants hangover from which they never want to wake but only continue to be fed by those willing to work and produce while they can ride our coattails.

I pray that progressives in today’s world see the light soon or else they will always end up in the minority, kind of like the black population who believe that democrats actually want better for their populace, the greatest myth of the last two centuries. Good luck to all you progressives, for common sense isn’t purchases with other peoples money, its purchased through real world experience and real world education (not what is jammed down your throat in today’s liberal progressive curriculum).

If more people in progressive hoods thought more like Greatness Loss above, it would be a much different, much more peaceful world.

Sorry, but the world moves on, continues to evolve, even though you may not believe in evolution. People understand that this is not 1910 but 2010.

We all understand your bigotry. Understand that when you enslave someone for 250 years, then prevent them from getting an education through fear and deprivation and terror for another 100 years, and exile them to states where they will not be lynched (after having been enslaved) that it will bring down the level of the educational system, the quality of the workforce, and the cultural level of society.

This is the fault of the damned fools who still are so stuck in the 19th Century that they still fly Confederate flags over their state capitals, like traitors to America. The rest of the country respects the American flag first. The African American former slaves, former second-class citizens won’t recover and become brilliant scholars and the predominant leaders in business in less than 30 years of affirmative action. Even though many of them have overcome poverty and ghettos and discrimination and third-world conditions to become great and successful Americans. Sorry this goes against your racist plans.

After causing the devastation of the Civil War, of Restoration and of Segregation, the South in its ignorance now wants the rest of us to give up all the money we invested in Social Security, and in Medicare and in everything else we have paid taxes for (and our companies paid taxes for) to give large corporations tax breaks and reduce taxes even more on hugely wealthy oil men and corporate CEOs if they send jobs to China. They want to shut down government, stupidly, not using their heads to realize that those states who now get the most back for every dollar of federal taxes will then once again come to us in the North for assistance.

This time your stupidity and ignorance will not be repaid with our good will. We are tired of racist hate-filled hicks voting for rich white men whose only ambition seems to be to destroy this country and send our entire working force to Asia, leaving our working people here to live off table scraps. What you offer is stupidity and ignorance and intolerance and just plain damned foolishness, augmented by religious superstition. That is what you offer but no one with a brain and an education is buying it. You wouldn’t understand a progressive principle if one bit you on the ass. We know the kind of world you would like to return to. It would indeed be much different. We would all be destitute except for the rich oil men and manufacturers and their little Nazi stooges who would do their bidding for a few pennies.

OK, so even though you paid and bussed in your marxist astroturf from all over the country, you couldn’t get a big enough crowd to fill JFK stadium. Enjoy the last desparate gasp of progressivism. If we start drug testing all you welfare receiving socialist proponents we can reduce the rolls by 80%. Should we have to bail out the unions, we’ll insist on drug testing there as well. Go get jobs and quit demanding more for the nothing you contribute.

  • Joshaughn

The 8 million people who were employed in a variety of middle management jobs who were cashiered by Right Wing Bush-Cheney policies probably should be drug tested, as should every Republican Senator. Reducing the rolls of the unemployed by 80% would be a great idea. The unions are mostly employed with good wages, health care and retirement portable pension plans. The idea of “drugged” and “welfare” and “Marxist” (though it is clear that people like this person don’t have an idea of what that means) are code words for “Black.” Just another bigot pretending, quite comically, to be a person observing society. Obviously observing society from a slanted point of view. Btw, unemployment payments are made from insurance premiums that we all pay. Some millionaires like you are also collecting unemployment insurance.
